Mockingbirds
Poem By Sharon Zwach
Love is just a frivolous thing,
It’s almost make-believe,
When mockingbirds forget to sing,
And lift their wings to leave.
When wind whispers among the leaves,
To swirl them about in the air,
When leaves let go of a thousand trees,
And fall down without a care.
When sunsets display colors galore,
And darkness fills the sky,
When waves leap upon the shore,
The bay waves it goodbye.
When rainy days seem grim,
As you’re lost in all the mourning,
When stars seem to dim,
And the dawn breaks in the morning.
When the moon sets in the west,
And sunlight fades it out in the day,
When little birds leave their nest,
And begin to fly away.
Love is just a frivolous thing,
It’s almost make-believe,
When mockingbirds forget to sing,
And lift their wings to leave.
A Vanilla Moon
Poem by Sharon Zwach
A drop of vanilla ice cream in the sky that’s so sweet,
A speck of white in a black sky so deep,
I’m tempted by darkness to reach for your light,
As you mysteriously shine in the pitch, black night,
You dance with the stars so majestically high,
You lay within clouds that envelope you in the sky,
I imagine the taste of you on the tip of my tongue,
A ‘sweet sensational flavor,’ my taste buds have sung,
But if I were to swallow you up from the sky,
Then the world would be dark, the stars would cry,
So although I’m tempted to steal you away,
I’ll refrain myself, for I want you to stay,
For although I would enjoy your taste and crave for more
What would be the point of any following night be for?
Although we won’t admit it- you are like a lighthouse for the soul
A beacon of reassurance in a sky of dark coal
For what would the night be without a moon?
Just another night, another summer in June.

Your Love
Poem by Sharon Zwach
Your love is my shelter,
On a cold winter’s day,
When all else fails,
And I try to turn away,
But I’m never really alone,
For your love will always stay,
No, I’m never really alone,
No matter how far I stray.
It’s the soothing fire in our hearts,
That makes us smile when we’re sad,
It’s the happiness that never parts,
When we lose things we once had,
It’s the sunbeams through the clouds,
When storms are sent our way,
It’s the beauty we find within,
When we have lost the way.
It’s the candle in the darkness,
When we are filled with fear,
It’s the hug that we embrace,
When we are down in tears,
It’s the empty road we run on,
When no one else is near,
The struggles may seem unbearable,
But you are always here.
It’s the laughter in our ears,
When in that moment we are free,
It’s the washing away of fears,
When we step beside a peaceful sea.
It’s the hope inside that constantly tries,
When our hearts cry from battle scars,
It’s the smile in another one’s eyes,
When we open our arms to heaven’s stars.
You are waiting for us to remember,
That your love will always endure,
Any challenges that we may carry,
Or when we are unsure,
Cast your burdens upon his shoulders,
For he will always lend a hand,
Our problems may seem like boulders,
But he always has a plan.
Your love is my shelter,
On a cold winter’s day,
When all else fails,
And I try to turn away,
But I’m never really alone,
For your love will always stay,
No, I’m never really alone,
No matter how far I stray.
